Nick and Jessica are about to make it official. In court documents made available today, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have asked the court to appoint a retired judge, Judge Dana Senit Henry, to enter a divorce decree, TMZ reports.
Â
Simpson and Lachey are asking to “bifurcate†the divorce case, meaning the divorce can become final and the parties can then deal with the complicated financial matters afterward.
Â
The papers require a “sign off†from the presiding judge before it becomes official. The judge is on vacation until next week, but after he signs it, Judge Senit Henry is expected to issue the divorce decree immediately. Simpson filed for divorce on December 16, 2005.
Mariska Hargitay and her husband, Peter Hermann, welcomed their first child, a son named August.Â
The baby boy, who was born on Wednesday at 3:21 p.m. in Los Angeles, was a week overdue and weighed in at 10 lbs. 9 oz.
“Mother and baby are doing wonderfully,” Hargitay’s rep, Leslie Sloane, tells us. “I just talked to her and she is ecstatic – over the moon.”
NEW BEGINNING
“I didn’t want it to go by in a blur,” says bride Marcia Cross, in Reem Acra, of her and money manager Tom Mahoney’s big day in San Gabriel, Calif. “My eyes were trying to drink in all my family and my new family and friends.”

BEST GIRLS
“They’re so near and dear to me,” says Cross of her 3-year-old niece and the six daughters of friends whom she asked to be flower girls at the June 24 wedding. “I couldn’t think of anything better.”
