Selma Blair and Ahmet Zappa Split
Actress Selma Blair and actor-rocker Ahmet Zappa are divorcing after two years of marriage.
Blair filed the petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences.
“Selma and Ahmet have decided to divorce but love each other very much and will continue to be close friends,” Troy Nankin, spokesperson for the couple, said in a statement.
The couple married in January 2004 at the L.A. home of actress Carrie Fisher after dating for six months. “The ceremony was so romantic, beautiful, elegant, a little goofy – exactly like them,” a friend said at the time.
Blair, 33, is best known for her roles in 1999’s Cruel Intentions and 2001’s Legally Blonde. She stars in the upcoming Edward Burns-directed film Purple Violets alongside Debra Messing.
The 32-year-old Zappa – son of the late musician Frank Zappa – will next release a children’s book, The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless, on July 25.
The marriage was the first for both. They have no children.
