Pete Doherty–same song, different day. 

The legally challenged Babyshambles frontman has once again pleaded guilty to possessing drugs, stemming from an arrest last week in London, plus two other drug-related incidents from earlier this year.

He was charged with seven counts of drug possession Thursday, including crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana. On Friday, after spending the night in jail, he pleaded guilty to five of those counts. His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 4.

It’s virtually impossible to keep up with the various misadventures of the self-confessed drug addict, whose biggest claim to fame was once his status as Kate Moss’ on-again, off-again beau. (The two were photographed together last week, although Moss has claimed to have broken things off.)

It was Moss’ association with Doherty that famously led to her being photographed in the act of using cocaine, creating a temporary stumbling block in her career.

Moss, however, has bounced back. Doherty, on the other hand, seems to be on a never-ending slide to rock bottom–just when you think he’s hit it, he finds a way to sink lower.

Last month, the troubled rocker canceled a concert in Ibiza, announcing that he planned to give rehab yet another shot. That idea apparently did not pan out as planned.

Before deciding to enter a treatment facility, Doherty had stated his intention to have a chemical device implanted in his abdomen that would prevent him from experiencing the high caused by opiates. That scheme also apparently failed.

Given Doherty’s multiple arrests and apparent inability to stay clean, a jail sentence seems a likely consequence this time around.

Of course, he’s managed to skirt the system thus far, so who’s to say whether this will be the arrest that gets him locked up at last.
