Lachey and DiScala Buy Basketball Team

Nick Lachey and A.J. DiScala have long been friends, and now they’re business partners in the perfect venture: The two sports fans are starting a basketball team. 

They, along with a group of celebrity owners, on Tuesday announced the formation of “The Hollywood Fame,” a new team that will join the expanding American Basketball Association.

“The Hollywood Fame” will launch its inaugural season this November with home games to be played at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Player tryouts were also held on Tuesday, with an additional September date planned to fill out the remaining spots on the squa,d as well as those for official “Hollywood Fame” cheerleading positions.

According to Discala, the former husband and manager of Sopranos actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, “We’re excited about ‘The Hollywood Fame’ bringing highly skilled basketball players to the fans of Los Angeles. We are creating a unique family entertainment option at affordable prices.”

Besides Lachey and Discala, “Fame” owners include Geoff Stults (7th Heaven and The Break-Up), Stacy Keibler (Dancing With the Stars), former NBA legend John Salley, former Major League baseball All-Star Brady Anderson, NFL quarterback Kyle Boller of the Baltimore Ravens and NASCAR’s Brian Vickers.

The ABA will see more than 60 teams beginning play in November, including teams in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, the association says.
