Keith Urban Pulls Out of CMAs

Keith Urban

Keith Urban, who checked into rehab on Thursday, has pulled out of a planned appearance at the CMA Awards, a rep at his label, Capitol Records, confirms.

Judy McDonough says that Urban has also canceled all immediate promotional appearances for his new album, echoing a statement released Friday by Urban’s personal publicist.

The 40th annual CMAs will be held in Nashville on Nov. 6. Urban, 38, is nominated for four awards: entertainer of the year, male vocalist of the year, single of the year (for his song “Better Life”) and song of the year (for “Tonight I Wanna Cry”).

Urban took home the entertainer of the year award at the 2005 CMAs, beating out expected winner Kenny Chesney. He was also named male vocalist of the year for the second time in a row.

Despite the change in Urban’s promotional schedule, his new album, Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing, will hit stores as planned on Nov. 7.
