Paris Hilton Will Do Minimum 23 Days

Paris HiltonParis Hilton will serve a minimum of 23 days in jail, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.

“The Sheriff’s Department is announcing today that Ms. Hilton will do a minimum of 23 days in jail,” sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore says. “The possibility that she will be processed in and out in a day is over. She will do her full time, minus 22 days because of a state jail policy encouraging good inmate behavior.”

Previously, Whitmore had said it was possible that Hilton could be processed in and out of jail within hours due to jail overcrowding.

However, Wednesday’s decision was “reached after an evaluation of all factors, including the judge’s written orders, the nature of her offense, and her lack of a criminal history,” Whitmore said.

Hilton, 26, has until June 4 to begin her sentence. Her attorneys have filed a notice of appeal, but have not yet filed their full argument to overturn or lessen her sentence.

Hilton’s rep declined to comment on Wednesday’s decision.

On Tuesday Whitmore said: “The public can expect that the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department will make the best decision for everyone involved. We will treat [Hilton] as we would any other. That’s our goal.”
