Amy Winehouse’s Husband Arrested
Amy Winehouse’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, was arrested by undercover police officers Thursday for allegedly attempting to manipulate a witness in his upcoming assault trial.
Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper published sensational photos of the singer, 25, clasping her handcuffed husband’s neck and kissing him goodbye.
Four men between the ages of 19 and 25 were arrested in the investigation, which the police have called an attempt at “perverting the course of justice.”
Twenty-five-year-old Fielder-Civil was due to stand trial with another man Nov. 12 on charges of assaulting a barman last June. The Mirror claims it uncovered a plot to pay one trial witness more than $400,000 in exchange for altered testimony.
A rep for Winehouse did not return calls and police refuse to confirm the veracity of the report.
“I wouldn’t like speculate on what the Mirror has reported but it clearly relates to the same case,” says a police rep.
There is no indication that Winehouse was involved in – or even aware of – the alleged plot.
The singer wed Fielder-Civil in Florida last May, and has been mired in controversy over drug and booze use ever since. She was arrested Oct. 18 over cannabis charges but is appealing the bust.
