Courtney Love Denies Gastric-Band Surgery
Courtney Love is denying rumors that her recent dramatic weight loss is the result of gastric-band surgery.
“I couldn’t get that surgery if I begged for it,” she writes on her Web site, moonwashedrose.com, the New York Daily News reports. “I got my inspiration from Oprah losing so much weight on Slim-Fast.”
(Winfrey actually lost weight in 1988 on a medically supervised liquid diet using a supplement called Optifast.)
Love, 42, got the Internet buzzing last month when she appeared noticeably thinner in photos of her vacationing in Hawaii in a bikini. She wrote on her Web site that she’d “lost 44 pounds with 6 more maybe 11 more to go.”
A rep for the onetime Hole singer said that Love is following a macrobiotic diet, eating lots of vegetables and fish, doing yoga and exercising to meet her weight-loss goals.
But on Thursday the New York Post’s Page Six quoted a source as saying Love was “telling people she got the gastric band surgery.” Love’s rep told the paper: “Not true. She says she never got surgery.”
