Does the fact that Nick Lachey has filed court papers reserving the right to seek alimony from soon to be ex-wife Jessica Simpson make the handsome singer a gold-digger?

Perhaps. It’s definitely not going to help any ’Type A male personality’ image if he ever wishes to put one forth.

‘In Touch Weekly’ reports that the divorce between Jessica and Nick is not going to be as easy with the developments of Nick’s possible cash demands. 

It’s also not going to go over well with a lot of fans that think perhaps Nick should suit up and earn his own living.

“This comes as a huge shock to Jessica,” a friend told In Touch. “She didn’t think Nick would do this.”

And If Nick, 32, decides to seek alimony, it could cost Jessica, 25 a lot of cash.

“She just launched her shoe line last week,” says her pal, noting, “It’s a $15 million deal.” 

(Sidenote: It’s unlikely he can get to that cash as they are now living separately).

It was probably put best by Jamie Foxx on Entertainment Tonight last week: “A real man don’t do those kind of things,” Foxx bluntly stated to ET.  “I don’t really agree with that because I think it’s a cop-out.  You got to get up and do your own thing.”

Nick’s image will indeed take a hit in many fans’ eyes if he decided to live off his ex-wife’s talents.
