Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer, a rep for the 36-year-old Samantha Who? Emmy nominee announced late Saturday.
In full, the spokesperson’s statement said:
“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening.”
The rep added: “Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time.”
Gunfire erupted early Saturday at an Atlanta nightclub party sponsored by Jermaine Dupri and attended by music stars Usher, Nelly and Sean “Diddy” Combs. A security guard was reportedly wounded.
“I’m sad this incident happened because it interrupted a beautiful and loving party. But I’m happy none of my people or friends got hurt. And the party continues,” Dupri says in a statement.
They broke up in February but former competitive biker Carey Hart still holds hope for a future with his estranged wife, Pink.
Hart, 33, says he’s not sure if his marriage to Pink, 28, is retrievable, but “I would like to have wishful thinking and say, ‘Yes.’ Only time will tell.”
Their plan?
“Maintain a friendship, and who knows what will happen when we get older,” Hart said Friday at the Flo-TV X-Games party in West Hollywood. “For the next three years, we’re both extremely busy people so it’s tough.”
Buzz Aldrin may have been the second man on the moon, but he’s also got his eyes set on Hollywood – especially Reese Witherspoon.
The former astronaut, 78, is in talks for a proposed film about the battles he faced after his Apollo flight – and his subsequent love story, he told reporters Thursday at the New York premiere of the animated 3-D feature Fly Me to the Moon. Aldrin did voice work for the film.
Sarah Silverman, who has been silent since her split with Jimmy Kimmel last month, briefly addressed the break-up during her stand-up performance Thursday night.
“Did someone tell you I’m going through a hard time?” Silverman, 37, jokingly told an audience of 300 at West Hollywood’s Largo at the Coronet. (A few sympathetic cries came from the front of the crowd.)
But the edgy comedienne – who famously called Britney Spears’s two sons “adorable mistakes” – quickly moved on and avoided jokes about Kimmel, 40, and relationships in general.
It’s welcome to matrimony for Welcome to the Dollhouse actress Heather Matarazzo, who is engaged, her publicist tells E! News.
The 25-year-old Matarazzo, known for playing gawky youths in films including The Princess Diaries, will marry Carolyn Murphy, her girlfriend of a year, after what publicist Lisa Jammal calls a simultaneous proposal.
“It was really cute. First Heather proposed to Carolyn, then Carolyn proposed to her,” she says.
Shia LaBeouf may have been arrested for DUI after Sunday’s car accident – but Transformers director Michael Bay insists the actor was not impaired.
“He was not drunk,” Bay tells Access Hollywood in an interview slated to air Friday. “He was drinking hours and hours before.”
But the director – currently working with LaBeouf on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – claims that he did warn his young star about road safety shortly before the crash.
They broke up earlier this year, but Paula Abdul and her restaurateur ex-boyfriend JT Torregiani have been quietly reconnecting, a source close to them says.
“They’re taking it slow, testing the waters,” says the pal of the pair, who were spotted catching a movie together in Sherman Oaks, Calif., last weekend. “They’ve gone on a few friendly dates.”
The American Idol judge and the owner of several Hollywood hotspots dated for more than a year before splitting in May. A rep for Torregiani blamed their hectic work schedules for the breakup.
